Last night I was a nomad.
1st stop: Le Noir, for the Dom Perignon event, where guests enjoyed free flow of the exquisite bubbly.
2nd stop: Mercedes Benz 2nd Anniversary party. We missed the fashion show, although the sleek cars there were eye candy enough for me Met Utt there and he introduced me to the lovely Taya, she’s hot!!
3rd stop: Mimolette. The usual Friday trybe night hangout and crowd. *yawn*
4th stop: Velvet & Zouk. I was rather tired by this time, especially after standing around in killer 4-inch heels the whole night. Refused to touch any alcohol although certain *cough cough* 5-10 addicts kept making me play with them ^_^
To my horror I did not bring my camera out, oh the travesty of the situation! Tons of wasted photo ops…
Well that was certainly enough for one night and one week, tonight I am giving up all social engagements to just snuggle up with my books, my magazine, and to watch this korean romantic comedy “Seducing Mr. Perfect“
The sunnier cousin of tearjerkers. They’re movies without much substance, unrealistic, hopelessly romantic and rubbishly fluffy. Most of them are sooo predictable anyway. I would tell the person beside me, “this is what’s gonna happen, blahblahblah….” and voila! I’m right. Seriously, the cutsey things that happen on screen, those heart-melting lines uttered by the male lead, that perfect sweet relationship complete with a great soundtrack of love songs played at exactly the precise right moments…. they just don’t happen in real life. Some of these flicks are a complete farce.
I think it even gives women unrealistic expectations of prince-charming and romance sometimes. (warning: don’t watch too many K-dramas! Thankfully I don’t!)
But well, we can always dream, and hope. So once in a while, everyone including me, needs a dose of a feel-good extravaganza like the romantic comedy. Love, is a big thing for us. And at times it can bring much pain, heartache, longing, and all these other intense emotions. And women, the main fans of the genre, tend to be emotional creatures. Hence it engages the viewer by treating romance and love as a source of light-hearted humor… we can laugh at and identify with the problems that keep the couple apart, whilst enjoying the fact that they are usually united in the end. Yes, these essentially feel-good candies leave you happily wistful at the thought of happy endings and the existance of true love in the world. You might even daydream that whatever transpired in the film could happen to you. Even if that escapism is only for 2 hours, and it could be quite a hard fall back down to earth after

Laughter’s the best medicine: found some clips of the Nuffnang anniversary party where my kiss was auctioned off… brought back some funny memories With that money I’d choose to take the Lumix camera actually!!
Just found out from a reader that if I were to be an F1 racer I would not be the first female. My bad, did not delve into the fairer-sex aspect of the sport’s history beforehand.
So the story goes, there have been 5 women who have tried to qualify for a GP, only two of them actually started a race though. And only one of them, on one single occasion, managed to finish in the points:
1. Maria Teresa de Filippis 1958 -59 Entries 5 Qualified 3 Best finish 10th, Belgium 1958
2. Lella Lombardi 1974 -76 E17 Q12
BF 6th, Spain 1975: 0.5pts
3. Divina Galica 1976 -78 E3 Q0
4. Desiré Wilson 1979 E1 Q0
5. Giovanna Amati 1992 E3 Q0
Wonder why, are women lacking in the endurance, driving skills, and immense psychological edge required for F1?
Well maybe one day I can be the first female to make it to the podium Oh psshhh righttt…. probably F3 would be a more attainable goal in this lifetime..
