A Ferris Wheel Dinner Amidst the Stars
Why settle for a meal in a static setting when you can soar into the skies, enjoying a double feast of incredible views AND a elegant 3-course dinner?
Well now you can! And nope, it’s not in the cable car to Sentosa either.
I was extended an invitation by Singapore Flyer to try the world’s first full-butler dining in the sky. Yippee! An offer I couldn’t refuse
Towering at 165 metres, Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel (beating the London Eye!) with a unique 360 day-to-night panorama of Singapore city (and even parts of Malaysia) at every turn of the wheel.
Special LED lighting on the giant wheel rim provides a kaleidoscopic visual display at night, underneath the glowing moon.
Walking excitedly to the entrance of the Flyer. It sits atop a three-storey leisure building with a diverse array of shops and restaurants overlooking the bay.
We are ushered into a private lift and taken to the VIP Lounge where a welcome drink awaits us.
It’s a classy and plush place to relax.
Afraid you’re missing out on your 7pm drama? Soapbox junkies can get their widescreen telly fix too.
Sit outside in the breeze al fresco style on the outdoor verendah
Behind me is where guests can take a photo in front of a green screen,
the shot is superimposed onto Flyer images if you want to buy them as souveniers after
Time to hop aboard! The special dining capsule with fine table settings inside approaches.
Seated, we start off with a flute of Fresh Summer Berries in Ginger Ale
Our attentive inflight hostess who catered to our every need. Each time I got up and got back down to my seat,
she would rush to pick up my napkin first and then place it on my lap!
Enjoying some Sauvignon Blanc wine with the appetizer- Duck Liver Pate, on a bed of fresh leaves tossed in sweet vinaigrette dressing accompanied with raisin balsamic
Taking in the view
Baked Cod Fillet in pastachio herb crust. My favorite, very delicious!
On the way down, you’ll see a model of the soon-to-be-opened Integrated Resorts. Yes, the famous “uncompleted expressway” buildings. (I can’t wait for the casino!)
We return to the VIP Lounge for dessert.
With our excellent host Ryan, who oversaw the entire dining experience.
Coffee/tea served with Bread and Butter Pudding in Vanilla cream sauce and caramelised pear & apple.
Always room for dessert!!!!

Finally, watch the video of us and our sky dinner!
Note: You might have to turn the volume up to hear us more clearly. And don’t laugh, there is one part where I’m doing something lame and silly.
Overall, it was an intimate and memorable time with breathtaking views that never stay the same. Dinner in the capsule was approximately 1 hour, or 2 whole rotations of the ferris wheel.
The food was alright, but not madly amazing. Nonetheless, when you try sky dining at the Flyer, you really aren’t coming here to be wowed by fantastic cusine right? (Although that’d certainly be a big plus!) You come for the one-of-a-kind multi-sensory experience of romantic fine dining in the skies, surrounded by the beautiful city skyline of Singapore.
