  • Mugler, Audi Fashion Festival 2012

I did a guest blog entry for Yahoo Singapore on my experience attending the opening show of this year’s Audi Fashion Festival – by French fashion house Mugler.

You can read it here :)

Several comments on the site have been quite disparaging, leading to me being a bit upset for a day. Some I felt were not constructive criticism at all and such nastiness really uncalled for. Besides adding some of my own personal experiences of the night (which is what the editors instructed), I put a lot of effort to include more thoughtful analysis and opinions into the entry. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t one of those vapid blog posts by “fashion bloggers” with some photos and some lines like “oh it was wonderful!” “I loved that dress!” and umm….that’s it.

But well, as I’ve learnt over the years, you can’t please everyone. I’m aware I’m not the best literary genius in the world and I have room for improvement; and I’m also aware some people out there will hate no matter what. Browse the internet and you’ll find it is full of vitrol, people who love to bash online anonymously about everything, anything and anyone in the public eye. I will strive to always do my best anyway, and nonetheless, I’m thankful for the more positive encouragement and support by friends and followers on my Facebook page, hugs to them! x

Big thank you to Yahoo too, for giving me this opportunity! It’s an honor to work with one of my go-to sites!

**Singapore’s annual Audi Fashion Festival is one of the biggest fashion events in the city. Held from 16 – 20 May, this year’s show featured participants like Mugler, Zac Pousen, Roland Mouret, Raoul, Alldressedup, and other notable local designers.**

  • Awe Dawn! Just do you babe! Everyone will always be ahead or behind, but we all gotta learn to respect those ahead as well as those behind and let go of egos and pride! Lol. Love your entries!

  • I admire your beauty and intelligence

  • Hey Dawn they’re just trying to get under your skin. Sad jealous fools with nothing better to do. Ignore them! You’re great! I think it’s a good article and you had interesting observations! Would love to see if any of the haters can come up with a better fashion critique…. their English standards already look super fail!

  • I agree… Most yahoo commenters are anti-PAP, Opposition supporters with a reputation of being rude and arrogant. Just ignore them…. Anyway most people already know that Xiaxue is the sole mastermind behind false rumours about you. And the corrupted Nuffnang company keeps giving her most influential blog award when she’s nothing but a super bad influence.

  • can’t blame people for criticizing an article that wasn’t even remotely interesting, even though it was supposed to be about an interesting event.

also, what’s with the ” ” on fashion bloggers and calling them vapid? you’re interested in fashion, so are they. but insulting them and then getting upset when people find your article so boring they resort to mocking you instead? pfffft. do grow up, dear.

  • Ignore the keyboard warriors. You were just doing your job… it was a good effort and the post was insightful. Keep it up!

  • @cy -  Before saying her article “wasn’t even remotely interesting”, please go read n compare some of those “vapid fashion bloggers” then you’ll see hers is a lot better

(I agree a lot of them have nothing much to say. if you can comment dawn’s writing is bad she can surely have an opinion on others too?)

  • Gosh people are really really mean! But don’t let what they say get to you, because their thoughts mean nothing. You know you’re awesome and we do too. :)

  • It’s evident to everyone that the haters are trying very hard to make you feel bad to make themselves feel better. Whats more on the notorious Yahoo site. Don’t listen to the nonsense they are sprouting. Because you are still a bright and beautiful young lady at the end of the day.

  • @cy -  Maybe you’re the one who needs to grow up, dear. Seems you’re too immature to appreciate more intelligent writing yet. The simple and “interesting” enid blyton books are waiting for you =)

  • People still hate you because Xiaxue told them to, they need to grow a mind of their own..

  • u look better and better thru the years.

  • I have been reading several blogs and I must say with honesty that Dawn Yang has one of the most unique, original and creative writing style that people like me will love reading.

Some morons are just desperate to discredit her out of jealousy and hatred exploiting on things that happened years ago because they have nothing better to do except for bitching and bashing… Since Dawn Yang is a famous celebrity and Singapore’s hottest blogger, other midget bloggers like Xiaxue will constantly look for excuses to abuse and insult her just for more hits and popularity for herself…. and her retarded fans and readers actually believe her!

  • You look stunning! love the dress and earrings, fabulous!

  • if by “much better” you mean wordier, then i’m afraid to say i don’t think much of your opinion on articles. but hey, it’s not nice to insinuate that my saying her article was uninteresting automatically means it was the worst of the bunch. having looked at the other links i find them ALL uninteresting, although some of them had nice pictures (everyone likes nice pictures).

now where, pray tell, are the “intelligent” segments of the article? since someone brought up the idea of appreciating intelligent writing.

  • Hi Dawn, I am glad you are able to defend yourself. You should stand up for yourself instead of allowing haters and bullies to put you down. A few people will still criticize you but you already have a large fan base that adores and supports you. Criticisms are good if they are constructive but liars and slanderers should still be sued like you did before. Many people actually admire you for your past lawsuit history that turned xiaxue into a pathetic sore loser…

  • She looks weird in purple hair … looks like a prematuredly ageing grand tranny.

  • Dawn, I’d liked to say that you’ve improved from all the previous posts you’ve written. Kudos to the picture change too. At least I can find that whatever you’ve written recently can relate to me a little more,or has that genuine touch ; how should I put it? (Hoped you knew what I’m digging) than what you’ve written back then. That being said, I think you can write more simply, instead of using too many bombastic words.

Be comfortable with whoever God made you. Cheers! -addy-

  • Dawn Yang,

You are upset by a few negative comments, but look at the number of insulting derogatory comments Xiaxue is receiving at yahoo today.

I’m having a good laugh reading them… Steven Lim and Xiaxue must be secret lovers or something, his name always comes up each time Xiaxue is mentioned.. LOL!

Poor Xiaxue, she thought she could get away but she’s getting more insults than she tried to avert… LOL!

  • You’ve got a couple nice photos and your article started off well…however it seems like you kind of blanked out half way through. The rest of the entry was disjointed and forced.

I do enjoy your whimsical writing style but blogging and writing articles are completely different.

  • Just because you were appointed to be a guest blogger by Yahoo doesn’t give you the right to start looking down on fashion bloggers.
