| | Celebrated my first July 4th here in the States! We went to a friend's place in New Jersey for BBQ, since she stayed close to the Hudson River, where we would get good views.
Warning: this drink is not exactly the type you'd find at kids' lemonade stands

Summer rooftop BBQs are always fun

The hostess and her homemade cheesecake with an ingenious design - the American flag! cute :)
We played loads of group party games like Guesstures and Taboo

After a long delayed time herding everyone out of the house, we walk out to the magnificent view of the Manhattan skyline. Endless rowds had been gathered all the way for miles since afternoon to "chope" the good vantage points.
Can you believe this is only at 830pm and it was still bright? Long summer days.... I like :)
 The sun is setting.... anticipation

27 mins of fireworks ensues!!!!

It was a wondrous spectacle. I think if it was cheoragraphed to music that would be even more of an explosion for the senses, don't you think?
However I must say I did not feel as as moved as if I had been watching Singapore's national day fireworks. Singapore is ultimately my motherland, needless to say it is a lot more of a joyful experience celebrating my country's independence day. PLUS, we have great parades and performances!!! And all those patriotic songs (I like "Home" by Kit Chan) that make me swell up with pride (maybe shed a tear or two too).
Looking forward to returning home to Singapore in time for National Day! ;)
