It’s not generally called a cheongsam except by Cantonese speakers. As a Teochew, Dawn speaks Hokkien. As a Singaporean, she probably speaks some Mandarin but mainly English. In truth, qipao is a more appropriate general term considering Mandarin is the main language of China, from which the attire obviously originates and from which most Singaporeans originate (Teochews are also Han Chinese). Cheongsam really should only be used specifically with those from Hong Kong or those hailing from a Cantonese speaking province. Though my family are also Hokkien speakers I’m not sure what the call it, you’ll have to ask Dawn!
Oh and I’m not yelling or anything, just thought I’d educate
Have a nice day!
This post is obviously in reponse to that awkward boring lobby video. much improved x
The shouting ruined it for me and seemed quite forced to me. Immaturity does not equate to fun
Dawn is simply one of the most influential bloggers in Singapore! And the prettiest one too, i must add!
