  • A New Workout

Anyone who knows me would be familiar with my glutton, food-loving, dessert-devouring, couch potato ways. I used to be the athletic, tanned typical netballer/runner in school.... alas, the adult's lazy bug seems to have bitten me big time.

I recently decided to get off my fatty bombom and start exercising!

Not only for health reasons, but to keep my energy levels up. Besides, I feel it's a rewarding (and challenging) activity to spend time on when one is free.

    Time to get fit!

Which gym did I hit up? The spanking new

    Celebrity Fitness

located at the newly opened Rochester Mall.

State of the art gym equipment, modern design reminiscent of a modern club, spacious, flooded with natural sunlight.

My hunky personal trainer Kevin :)

It's my first personal training session, first I'm thinking "Shikes, I haven't run in a longggg time" and next I'm grimacing at the thought of how badly Kevin is going to torture me.

"Grrr.... trying... to.....lift..... legs... gonna.... give.... way........."

You bet he made me work out hard, sets of 3 of various weight training exercises.

Including the "Viper", which I'll share about another time!

Learnt some tips, e.g. you ought to run for more than 20 mins at least, otherwise you won't really be burning any fat.

I'm aching all over today, in my back, arms and legs :(   But according to him, that's a good thing for beginners.

Okay I shan't complain then. Next battle commences this Sunday! Goal: tone up and get leaner, stronger, fitter.

  • I ♥ Instagram

An uber fun way to make photos look cool, then share them with the world.
The quaintness of the pictures is that each tells a little story.

    Which are your favorite filters?

I like X Pro II, Earlybird, and Nashville most!

    I got to thinking.....

The blog is like an aeroplane - heavy duty, time intensive, goes the furthest, requires planning. but the experience is most substantial.

The Facebook page is like a cruise - you're stuck with others in that shared contained universe, but while everyone is chilling together there is lots to see and do along the way.

The Twitter/Instagram is like a sports car - zippy, fast, spontaneous and on-the-go. immediate gratification.

Johnnie Walker never fails to throw some of the best events in town.

That night in KL, 2010 goes down in memory as one of the most ludicrously fun times in (my) living history. A whole crew from Singapore went up for it as well!

I'm looking forward to round II tomorrow.

It's Formula One season this weekend in Malaysia again, and JOHNNIE WALKER® is raising the bar once more in their continued commitment to deliver an unrivaled VIP race party experience for its loyal consumers and A-list guests.

Pssst..... I heard they will be unveiling a few exciting new surprises for guests at the Black Circuit Lounge this time round.... can't wait to see what's in store :)

We'll of course be expecting an amazing line-up of hot DJs, state-of-the-art interactive party experiences and stylish JOHNNIE WALKER® cocktails prepared by local and international mixologists.

The highlight of the evening will be the special appearance by Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes™ Formula 1™ driver Jenson Button, fresh from his season-opening win in Melbourne, Australia last Sunday!

I've been so busy and worn out, I haven't had a long, good night's sleep in a while :'(

  • KS's Birthday at Graze

Graze at 38 Martin Road is the new sister to the original establishment at Rochester Park.

I've had brunch and dinner at this casual but chic all-day restaurant before; the fresh, airy interiors with a quirky chair wall, panoramic glass panels and timber finishes (designed by Melbourne-based award-winning Hecker Guthrie) had me excitedly drawn back for another lovely experience when friend KS had his birthday dinner party there.

KS is a serious food enthusiast, so any dining he has his eye on must be good!

    My table friends:

Great food is made even better with a fun, lively bunch and spirited conversation!

  • Kingdom Invasion 2012

Spent the last 3 days at the Singapore Expo for an amazing conference.

Day 1, a rainy morning: In my flavor-of-the-month cardigan in swallow prints + Mesh Lace Tier Bow Camisole from Lexi Lyla + bag from Prada

Dozens of my friends and I had signed up a few months back.

From morning to night, we had worship and heard life-changing, revelatory messages from Randy Clark, Tom Jones, and my favorite Bill Johnson.

    Invading earth with heaven's realities!

It was the first time my friend saw people fall to ground and coming from a Presbyterian background, she freaked. I had to explain being slain by the Spirit happens when you feel the glory, power, presence, great love and healing touch of your Heavenly Father come upon you. It's not painful at all, rather it's a really amazing moving experience.

    Pizza lunch break

Night sessions are free of charge and open to public.

If anyone needs a healing miracle of any sorts - cancers, deafness, blindness, bone problems etc. - come down to the Singapore Expo Hall 1 tonight 17 March at 7pm.

Nothing is too big or too small for God, saw Him heal and touch so many people!

    Watch the healing testimonies:

It's the last and final night of Kingdom Invasion, don't miss it! Bring everyone you know!

  • An Evening with Canon + Ian Wright + Justin Quek

Rushing after a whole day's shoot, I took a cab down to Marina Bay Sands for a ballroom dinner organized by Canon.

Famished, I was looking forward to sampling renowned local celebrity chef Justin Quek's culinary creations. His restaurant Sky on 57 is right there in MBS too.

And of course I couldn't wait to meet one of TV's most charming and likeable personalities, travel host Ian Wright! I love his shows!

Ian is super friendly and funny in real life, just as on screen. No wonder he makes his job seem effortless.

Justin Quek, Ian Wright and host Vernetta Lopez banter on stage. And yes, we know Ian Wright utterly loves Canon cameras, they're the only ones he uses :)

Slow cooked Nordic Salmon, crabmeat and laksa emulsion

Duo of Dessert - chocolate mouse, gula java and coconut cream / baked brick of stoned fruits, apricot anglaise

Great food, superb. The salmon was done PERFECTLY and melts in your mouth. All the flavors of each dish had hints of surprising flavors but always really tasty.

Thanks to Mr. Justin Quek for preparing a wonderful feast :)

Big thank you also to Canon for inviting me to an enjoyable night with my favorite travel host! x

  • Future Music Festival

Last week I was sent for a trip Down Under, Brisbane to be exact, for one of Australia's most exciting music festivals!

With big acts like those, you can't miss their posters on the streets.

I was bestowed by the organizers 3-in-1 titles of Guest, Media, and Part-Time Celebrity Stalker (haha, you'll see why later)

On our way to the Doomben race course where the event was held, it rained on our parade that Saturday morning.... what crappy weather to start off a whole day of festivities.

Thank heavens the heavy downpour eased up by the time we were ushered to our artist/media area :)

The place was not only done up gorgeously in bright, eclectic colors with comfortably lush sofas for us to rest our partied out soles (pun pun), they also included entertainment such as ping pong tables....

    retro arcade games...

...and a scrumptious buffet  of food.

I ate 4 times and I think some of the group were a bit aghast at my gluttony :X Hey, I needed my energy for a full day's worth of crowd-pushing, dancing and cheering!

With Jin (Hitz.fm) and Chris (editor of Beat Mag, Bali)

With Malaysian mates: Kevin, Joyce (Kinky Blue Fairy), Jason (Milk PR), Adil (The Star paper + rock band Couple), and Alif (Juice)

The celebrity stalker tag proved itself fit because we met several of the performers, such as...

Her big, burly, grumpy body guard snapped "NO" before we could even ask for a photo with Jessie.

    UK rapper Tinie Tempah

I should have asked him what his stage name means. Does it mean he has a "tiny temper", and if so does that mean he has a bad temper or good temper?  Hmm....

The kaleidscope of neon colors as far as your eyes could take you, under the gold and glistening, yet not scorching Brisbane sunlight, made for a wildly unforgettable candy pop experience.

The Aussies are an exuberant bunch, jumping around here and there, the atmosphere was really "high".

Everyone there loved to photobomb!  Or they would yell "take my picture!"
This guy here seems to be doing his best "Angie's Left Leg" impersonation. Mine's not bad too, except it's the wrong side, hah.

There were 2 main stages - Flamingo was the first one we went to and the first act we saw was Gym Class Heroes!

I had so much fun bopping along to "Stereo Hearts".

Whatever you do, follow instructions from those big security guards. Do anything silly like catapult across the fence of your designated zone and you'll be in for a very painful time.

Security pounced on this guy and man-handled him like pro wrestlers to the ground. From the looks of it they were going to break his neck!

Happy shiny people. (except that sunglass dude, why so sad)

    Holy Ghost:

    Strafford Brothers:

    The Wombats:

    Tinie Tempah:

What's an outdoor festival without a little foam to cool off?

I enjoyed seeing party-goers in all sorts of funky cool outfits and crazy get-ups!

And I'll never forget all the mud-slinging, LITERALLY. Thank goodness we had baby wipes to clean up a bit!

Night fell, and it was time for acts like Paul van Dyk, The Rapture, New Order and Swedish House Mafia.

I was pretty exhausted by then, and we took a respite in the VIP tent where they had tables and chairs (phew!) plus a big motley crew.

Towards the finale of the night it started to pour insanely again. Thankfully the organizers had given us nicely packed ponchos for us at the start.

Worn out & exhilarated. I would do it all over again. But first, can we go back to our nice clean hotel?

It was too bad we didn't have enough time to travel to the Gold Coast for some Sunshine-Coastin' love. Brisbane city was frankly, a little dull....  however I still saw some nice scenery.

And we also ended up in "The Valley" for dinner.

Chris is so famished after waiting an hour for his food he's gone a little cucko.

Thanks to everyone for the great time!

  • Boutique Updates

I personally love cardigans, snuggly knits and light blazers because not only do they shield me from the sun, they're comfy and great for aircon-blasting malls and cinemas.

Plus, layering is so fun for those cool pre-summer days!

  • Feature in Hong Kong Apple Daily Paper

In December last year I was requested by Hong Kong's Apple Daily newspaper to do a Singapore travel article with them.

    My honor to!

So one breezy weekday night, I brought their friendly reporter around to three places I thought their readers would find interesting - Lantern at Fullerton Bay Hotel, Blu Jaz bar & cafe at Haji Lane, and Spize for supper.

Here is the article reproduced for your reading pleasure, time to brush up on your Mandarin ;)

    ----------

    ■ Dawn

Blackberry Mojito

Singapore Sling

    BluJaz Cafe

Milo Gozilla

    Milo Gozilla

    ■ Ice The Gino
